Terms and refunds
Last updated 23 October 2026.
This is a translation of the Norwegian terms. If the two differ, the Norwegian version applies. Your rights as a consumer are the same in every language.
What Norskpenn is
Norskpenn is a practice tool for the writing test on Norskprøven. You write a text for a practice task and get an automatic assessment against HK-dir’s public assessment criteria, with corrections and advice. The assessment is made by artificial intelligence (Claude from Anthropic), not by an examiner.
Norskpenn isn’t affiliated with HK-dir or Norskprøven. The tasks are our own. The assessment is a guide and may contain errors. We don’t promise any particular result on the test.
Buying access
- Norskpenn 30 days costs NOK 249, paid once. It isn’t a subscription and doesn’t renew.
- You get an access code that is valid for 30 days from purchase and gives up to 60 graded texts.
- The seller and payee is Polar Software, Inc. (Merchant of Record), which also handles the receipt and VAT. Polar’s terms of purchase apply to the payment.
- A grading that fails isn’t deducted from the code.
- Each code can be used for at most 8 gradings an hour and 20 a day, so the service works for everyone.
Right of withdrawal and refunds
Access is digital content delivered straight away. When you buy, you tick a box to say that you want the access code straight away, and that you understand you then lose the 14-day right of withdrawal (Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act, § 22 (n)).
You still get your money back in these cases:
- You ask within 14 days of purchase, and you haven’t used the code for any grading.
- The grading doesn’t work, and we can’t fix it within a reasonable time.
Otherwise we don’t give refunds once the code has been used. Your rights under consumer law for faults and defects always apply. To ask for a refund, write to [email protected] from the email address you bought with, or use Polar’s customer portal. The refund goes back to the same payment method.
Proper use
Don’t send text that contains personal data about others, or anything illegal. Don’t use the tool to produce texts to memorise for the test; HK-dir treats memorised text as cheating. Automated use that puts a load on the service isn’t allowed.
Liability
We do our best to keep the service working and the assessments good, but we aren’t responsible for your result on Norskprøven, or for losses that follow from relying on an assessment. Mandatory consumer rights always apply.
Contact and disputes
Questions and complaints: [email protected]. Norwegian law applies. If we can’t agree, you can complain to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) and the Consumer Complaints Committee (Forbrukerklageutvalget).
